Worse than Songkran

Worse than Songkran

After experiencing Songkran สงกรานต์ 2013 in Bangkok, it’s difficult to imagine something worse (unless you want to go the the realms of being prisoner in Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib), but there is:

Happy Holi festival of colors in India where people throw dry color powder at each other

La Tomatina in Spain where people throw tomatoes at each other

Boryeong Mud Festival in Korea

A bit of a consolation it’s just water (ranging from 0 to 40 degree Celsius in temperature; unless someone mixes acid in: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2005-04-14/acid-spray-injures-6-at-thai-water-festival/1551470 and several similar cases) in Thailand, if I can’t flee the country and have to arrange with enduring Songkhran.

Inspiration for this post from an article in a magazine
Hello! Travel (in Thai language, 2015).

By invitation by a friend with car, I spent this Songkran in Suphanburi and Kanchanaburi, and you would barely notice it’s Songkran there.

How civilized people celebrate Songkran:

How savages celebrate Songkran:
