Songkran exodus: More than 800,000 people leave Bangkok on buses

More than 800,000 people left Bangkok on buses for their home provinces between April 8-12, according to the Transport Company.

Yesterday, over 200,000 people left the capital on buses and people continue to use the Northern bus terminal, Mor Chit 2, today as they make their way home for Songkran.

The mass exodus caused traffic jams on major ring roads, particularly the Eastern ring road where the queue for the Thanyaburi tollgate stretched back 17 kilometers and some drivers were stuck in traffic for three hours.
