This email was received by me just now. I do not understand what re-entry means

How does it effect visitors and how does it impact expats


I got a call this afternoon from a friend at the BKK airport

he saw a sign that said the REENTRY DESK WILL CLOSE ON JAN 15TH ..

Re-Entry relates to single entry visas (mainly non-o etc). If you leave the country your visa is immediately ended; by obtaining a re-entry permit stamp you can return without losing your visa rights. Swampy had a re-entry issuing desk, but as immigration are upgrading and updating themselves (ballpens instead of quills), they now only issue at regular immigration offices, like Suan Plu in Bangkok (which will move in March or thereabouts to a new building in the Chaengwattana Road government center).

So nothing to do with Thaksin's space programme. How disappointing.
