    4am closing time ??

The only thing surprising about the "resolution" is how, if reported correctly, the mayor can imagine that the tourism sector, or even the "entertainment establishments" only employ some "10,000 people." If true, and they "generate more than 60 billion baht each year in income", that means 6,000,000 baht per year each, or over 16,000 baht each per day - so much for cheap short times!!!

Pattaya City Council has passed a resolution to extend the closing time of entertainment outlets from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.
The resolution, passed during the final session of the end of term meeting of the council, will now be submitted to the Ministry of Interior, which had earlier issued a blanket instruction closing outlets in entertainment zones at 2 a.m.
The final council meeting was held on March 26, the last day in office for Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn and his team.
A total of seven issues were discussed during the meeting, most of them relating to the budgets for development programs. The proposal to discuss the closing time and pass a resolution was added following a complaint lodged at Pattaya City Hall a week previously, when 1,000 representatives of entertainment outlets said that the earlier closing time would hurt their businesses and damage PattayaтАЩs reputation as a nightlife and entertainment center.
Niran said that Pattaya is a modern tourism city that has a high international reputation and generates more than 60 billion baht each year in income. Most of the income is from entertainment establishments, of which there are more than 1,500 outlets. The industry employs at least 10,000 people.

    4am

The boys will love the new closing time of 4am (if it happens) because they will be able to do 3 offs per night in that time frame.

I doubt many of their customers could do 3 offs per night, so the likely result is the same quantity of tips spread over a longer time frame.
Potentially, the opening times may be later, which would be a bad idea.

The bars may sell more alcohol.

    Hi,

I think the comment was tongue in cheek as was my reply.

Regards opening times, this has been in the culture of the "Thai Night owls of Pattaya" for a long time, once they have done the necessary, they are out to party until dawn in the late night venues and Karaoke bars.

Probably explains why they look like shit in the mornings and your breakfast orders are commonly not what you ordered!

    offs

A lot of these guys do get 3 offs per day. I know one guy who said he gets 3 offs a day and makes about UK ┬г900 per month. Now that aint bad is it!

The 4:00 a.m. closing has to get past the Ministry of Interior yet!!!!

4AM Closing? With our present government? A pipe dream. As under Puritan Purachai before, they are cracking down on opening times.

Maybe Pattaya Police will do what they do with all other laws they don't like or don't want after two weeks of enforcement!
