Java: Massive eruption of Mount Kelut soon

Java: Massive eruption of Mount Kelut soon …

Mass evacuation now, 116 000 people have been evacuated so far by police and armed forces.

Mayor eruptions are expected at any time.

In 1990, Mount Kelud killed more than 30 people and injured hundreds. In 1919, a powerful explosion that could be heard hundreds of miles away destroyed dozens of villages and killed at least 5,160.

In recent hours the temperature of the bottom of the crater lake has increased further to some 74.6┬░ C, which indicates a rise of about two degrees per hour since this afternoon. The clouds of steam are still rising from the top of the volcano. Meanwhile one river towards the west of the volcano, which has seen mud and stones being taken downstream, is warming up slowly. Some steam now rises from it.

As before, any massive eruption will influence the weather conditions of the whole region, especially south of Thailand including Phuket.

Thanks for the links Krobbie, but I still do not see any connection between the eruption of Mount Kelut and bush fires in Sothern Thailand. Am I missing something here?
