Farang CAN own property in own name???
This is quoted from pattayagay's weekly update: http://www.pattayagay.com/weeklyreport-jan1506.html
"Although [Khun Pravit Pukasem, vice president of Bangkok Bank, Ltd.] did not get much opportunity to go into the housing issue, he commented in his introductory remarks that foreigners can definitely own a small home on a lot not greater than 1600 square meters, provided they meet certain legal criteria in Thailand."
Anybody know this Khun Pavit personally enough to ask what the heck he is talking about?

I think he omitted to mention the 'certain legal criteria included investing in a Thai Govt approved scheme not less than 40 Million Baht.

Ah, yes. The devil is in the nitpicking details. Simply bring US$1,000,000 and invest it where the nice government official says you should....
Would someone with a disposable US$1,000,000, really be satisfied with living on a mere one rai of land?
Thanks, Dick. I had forgotten about that special opportunity for a farang to own property.
