    PT Taxis

It might be best to avoid this taxi company now as the service has been getting worse over the last few years.

On the trip from the airport to Pattaya the drivers routinely take a detour to fill up with methane and this will add an hour to the journey time. On the return journey rather than a car they sent a minibus which is nowhere near as comfortable. The front seat was occupied by the drivers drugged up girlfriend which will be a serious problem if you happen to be stopped by the police. Quite likely if you're doing 140 KM in a 90 KM zone.

I had just the same time wasting experience with PT Taxis a few weeks ago as I mentioned in my recent trip report, also whilst I am no mechanic a bit concerning that the car isn't running on the petrol or diesel it was designed for and you have to get out of the car whilst they fill it up as apparently so inflammable?

On my subsequent trip up to Bangkok despite pre booking and stating Tarntawan Place Hotel with the destination address on my email confirmation and showing the driver the hotel brochure with the small location map, the driver didn't have a clue, came of the expressway far too early, struggled to find his way back on to it and I ended up directing him as we eventually got nearer!

I appreciate that the various companies can vary and I guess rely on independent drivers, does anyone have any feedback on who is a bit more reliable - Love Thailand do you have contact details for Mr Yo if he is more reliable?

It's always refreshing to meet people, albeit only online, who feel exempt from Thailand's criminal defamation laws. =))

    Re: PT Taxis

Beats me why people need to deal with pre-booked taxi services-is it a function of insecurity or what?
The drivers working for taxi companies are no more likely to know where they're going than the ordinary Bangkok taxis-perhaps less likely.
Best go downstairs in the airport and go through the queue system.
Likewise if your hotel doesn't have an in-house driver a staff member will go out to the pavement, flag down one of the 100,000 Bangkok taxis AND probably make the deal for you-for a small tip of course.

i never use prebooked taxis or limousines....I hop off the plane...saunter past passport control...whisk my luggage off the conveyor bely...and hop onto the first taxi at the airport...never a problem.

......then he rides the taxi driver like a pony on the back seat of the car, calls him a whore, and throws 500B on the front seat as he gets out

    Re: PT Taxis

I just use the pre booked Taxi idea so in theory after a long flight when I simply want to get to my destination, usually Pattaya now as quickly and comfortably as possible it would seem a convenient and easy way, nothing to do with any insecurity.
I have used the queuing taxi system before at the airport when heading straight from the airport in to Bangkok with no problem, is it as easy to do so from the airport to Pattaya and do they agree a fixed fare at the time, if so is it fair and how much?
Guess I just don't want the agro after a long flight of having to debate a cost once my luggage is in the boot of a taxi or get ripped off and I expect many other posters use pre booked services for that same reason. But after recent problems I am happy to reconsider and would certainly appreciate any advise.

scottyboy....been ages since I proposituoned a taxo driver...they tend to be a bit past the "use by age", now the tuk tuk drivers outside silom soi 2 after midnight ...thats something else. and am glad to note u recall and relish my techniques...when in Thailand I take full opportunity to live out my wildest kinks...and certainly use porn as inspiration.

...anyway we r venturing into "been there, done that"territory. Clearly u and most others see the "boys" somehow as equals...I simply see them as service providers...and as an agreement between 2 consenting adults. Best we dont reopen this pandoras box. Agree??
