Some questions for experienced Pattaya travelers

Since I only had one trip to Pattaya (I was there last week and start of this week) I have some questions for the more experienced guys on this forum:

    1) Do you in general meet your boy via Grindr/Hornet/Gayromeo? Or you still go to Gogo bars?

    2) How many of you have a special friend to which you send each month money to help him pay his bills? What is the amount roughly you then transfer? 2000 BTH? 4000 BHT?

    3) Do the parents of these Gogo boys know the kind of business they do? Or is it kept secret? In Europe escort boys do in general not tell friends/parents

    4) How do these boys see their future? They must know that after age 30 it becomes more and more difficult to find a Western gay man who is willing to pay. Most of us prefer young (18-25) above older (> 25).

    5) I noticed most boys speak extremely little English. So you can't have descent conversations with them. I was wondering - while there - if they pretend not to speak it (which helps make the dates shorter because if you can't talk with them why hang around?) or they really are so bad in it?

MY TROLL RADAR IS GOING OFF...BUT HERE GOES ANYWAY.

    1) Do you in general meet your boy via Grindr/Hornet/Gayromeo? Or you still go to Gogo bars?
ALL OF THE ABOVE. I USED TO DO GOGO/HOST BARS AND STREET /BEACH TRADE ONLY. BUT IN THE LAST 2 YEARS HAVE FOUND SOCIAL MEDIA VERY CONVENIENT....AND CHEAPER. NO OFF FEES OR BUYING DRINKS.

    2) How many of you have a special friend to which you send each month money to help him pay his bills? What is the amount roughly you then transfer? 2000 BTH? 4000 BHT?
NO, NO, NO,NO...I ONLY HIRE THEIR SERVICES FOR A SHORT TIME FRAME...DONT LOVE/CARE ABOUT THEM. LIKE A BANK ACCOUNT, ONCE i WITHDRAW I LOOSE INTEREST.

    3) Do the parents of these Gogo boys know the kind of business they do? Or is it kept secret? In Europe escort boys do in general not tell friends/parents
NOT SURE. AM SURE THAT TYE PARENTS DONT ACTUALLY WANT TO KNOW. AS LONG AS THE MONEY KEEPS FLOWING ALLS GOOD.

    4) How do these boys see their future? They must know that after age 30 it becomes more and more difficult to find a Western gay man who is willing to pay. Most of us prefer young (18-25) above older (> 25). MOST DONT THINK BEYOND TODAY. MOST HAVE LIMITED EDUCATION AND HAVE NO CONCEPT OF TOMORROW, OF SAVING UP OR INVESTMEBNTS. ITS ALL ABOUT TODAY.

    5) I noticed most boys speak extremely little English. So you can't have descent conversations with them. I was wondering - while there - if they pretend not to speak it (which helps make the dates shorter because if you can't talk with them why hang around?) or they really are so bad in it?
TALK??? LAST THING I WANT IS FOR HIM TO TALK EXCEPT TO SAY THANK YOU. I ENFGAFGE THEM FOR ONE THING ONLY AND ITS NOT FRIENDSHIP OR CHATTING. i ALREADY HAVE A SOCIAL CIRCLE.

Thanks for the answers and for your information: I truly, honestly, have just finished my very first Thailand trip. In December I will go for second time. I plan to go at least 2 times a year now, each year.
I feel an idiot for not having gone there sooner. I have missed out on a lot. All the fun I could have had in the past years.
But then I didn't see many guys younger than me. Most men I saw were 45 or up. Yet I wished I had gone there in my thirties.

give him the benefit of doubt. Lots of Asians do look much younger, and the dim lights a mplify this illusion. There is a lot of scary ;literature about underage goings on so I can understand that a newbie will see danger waiting at each corner.

    1) Do you in general meet your boy via Grindr/Hornet/Gayromeo? Or you still go to Gogo bars?

In Pattaya, I go almost exclusively to gogo / host bars or meet old friends. I can't be bothered to do anything on computer or telephone, poor pictures, wait for the boy to come to my room, etc. But others have completely different procedures.

    2) How many of you have a special friend to which you send each month money to help him pay his bills? What is the amount roughly you then transfer? 2000 BTH? 4000 BHT?

Wouldn't dream of sending money. There is only one way how money passes: from my warm hands in to his warm hands.

    3) Do the parents of these Gogo boys know the kind of business they do? Or is it kept secret? In Europe escort boys do in general not tell friends/parents

The internet says most of the boys tell their family they work in hotel or restaurant.

    4) How do these boys see their future? They must know that after age 30 it becomes more and more difficult to find a Western gay man who is willing to pay. Most of us prefer young (18-25) above older (> 25).

There was a thread on this subject some months ago.

    5) I noticed most boys speak extremely little English. So you can't have descent conversations with them. I was wondering - while there - if they pretend not to speak it (which helps make the dates shorter because if you can't talk with them why hang around?) or they really are so bad in it?

They do not pretend - their English is really very limited. Doesn't affect me any more, I speak more Thai than the average bar boy speaks English. But whenever I encounter boys who speak passable English, I pretend not to speak Thai, so I can listen to them (understand about half of it), read messages in Thai on their mobile, and so on. So far, I didn't gain any advantage, but one day it will turn out helpful.

Apparently not, but I'm sure many are aware of what their kids are up to; after all you can't send that much money home by working in 7/11. But they seem to be happy as long as the money keeps arriving every month and so I guess they don't ask too many questions.

But in many cases, the siblings know. It's amazing the number of guys who have their brother working in the same bar and who have a sister (or more) selling her pussy in a bar in Walking Street. They are all in the game.

And one of the boys once told me that if you see a nice house in a village, everyone knows that the girl has a farang " boyfriend" she'd met in the bar she works in.

Yeah, from what I've seen and heard, it often seems to be a matter of "Don't ask, don't tell". The boys don't really want to tell their parents, but there's also no need, because parents often know what's really going on anyway. Nothing either side is keen to talk about, and I cannot blame them. I've also seen the opposite, however, families openly talking about what some of their offspring are up to. That's probably the case when the whole village knows about it already, then the only face saving factor is a huge amount of cash sent back.
Yes, grandpa, I know it used to be more fun 30 years ago...

Funny....money also trumps everything else....not only in Thailand but all over the world.
