    Birthday Booze Ban Busted!

Is this a sign of the priorities and policies of the new regime? Here's hoping.....

Bans on selling alcohol on Royal family members' B-days lifted

Interior Ministry revokes its order which bans selling of alcohol on the birthdays of Their Majesties the King and Queen and other royal family members.

Sura-art Tongniramon, deputy permanent secretary for interior said that the ministry, has received several complaints from business operators of alcoholic drinks as well as owners of entertainment places that they suffered from the old order.

The ministry decided to revoke the order after being informed by the Royal Household Bureau that it does not have policy to prohibit the sales of the alcoholic drinks on the birthdays of Their Majesties the King and the Queen and those of the royal family members.

The ministry then informed the decision to all governors.

I would suggest not rushing to conclude that the junta is made up of a bunch of open-minded party-boys. It is of course well known (even among the mostly staunchly pro-military members here) that the police and military have always -- and still do -- profit immensely from kick-backs from entertainment businesses, both legal and illegal. I personally see the move more as the junta tossing a sardine to the sharks that line their pockets month in and month out.

So cynical Arse thingy, surely it is just a good will gesture, at a time when the country is full of uncertainty. The Junta is groovey

Oh yeah, they're a bunch of sweetie pies all right. Just ask the guys down at Khruesue, or the anti-Suchinda protesters back in '92. Of course, you wouldn't remember '92, would you? You were still sucking on your momma's titty back then.

The King saved the day then too.

    Still

If it follows what has happened in previous (Before the ban) years; many Thai-owned 'places' will close 'out of respect.'

Only after hundreds, perhaps thousands, of deaths -- many of which have never been acknowledged, much less resolved.

And what happens when your junta outlives the King? Who will save the Thai people then?

There's a prophecy: There will only be nine kings of this dynasty; the current king is the ninth.

I'm sure a Thai would love to tell you--And a less-polite would tell you, 'Farang don't worry about Thai people. Thai people can take care of (Save) themselves.'

By the way; save me a cute one for Saturday night! :occasion7:

Something this forum can relate to for sure: a limited number of kings.

And then there was her radiant Royal highness and Majesty the Queen, in the form of crown princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
