I have set up an expensive way around the problem.

I travel (currently in Spain) with my laptop (Americans read notebook).

I have a PC at home turned on.
From my aptop I access my PC via http://www.logmein.com (free option)

I will be able to access and post from a non-Thai IP address.

If any of my real friends want to borrow the log-in let me know.

By real I mean more than casual acquaintances.

I can access from my hotel, a choice of two wi fi connections.

What blockage? Are you referring to Hedda's bowels? I haven't needed a proxy to get into the site for months.

As many are slowly coming to realize, the "blockage" seems to have ended (since the coup).

I can see things are picking up again.

Jinks, HOW do u keep your home PC/server on all the time? Is it linux? I can never keep any one windows PC on for more than a day (and no one at home to reboot it).

I have no problem leaving it on. It runs quite happily by itself.

It's a normal PC.
I download movies onto it and watch them on my TV via a S-video lead.

Oh yes, the military junta had the unblocking of off-color websites high on their agenda of things to do after they took power. They're staunch supporters of freedom of expression and open access to information, after all.

By the way, I'm informed that the forum is still being blocked on some ISP's. CAT and KSC, for example.

I find proxies still very useful for other sites especialy if you have been inexplicably removed by some over zealous tart with attitude.

I do love my 20 ft SVideo cable about $12, as well.

But I'm tired of those tiny little avis and mpgs and usually just go for the DVDs now. Takes a long time but the torrents last through crashes, reboots, ... The PC will go a long time if I don't give it too much to do.
