    Transparent trash bins for parks

wowpow, where are you, you're letting these stories get past us...

(Bangkok Post) Transparent garbage bins are now being installed at all public parks here, as one of the stepped up security measures following the deadly bomb attacks in the Thai capital on New Year's Eve, Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin said Sunday.

The see-through containers are meant to preclude the secreting of bombs and suspicious parcels in the city's trash bins.

Replacing the old ones which are fabricated from metal and thoroughly non-transparent, 200 new garbage bins have been installed at four major public parks, Mr. Apirak said, adding that each bin's capacity is 20 litres and that it costs from 550тАУ590 baht each.

He said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) planned to install altogether 2,000 transparent garbage bins at all 22 public parks here by the end of next week.

Also, in order to boost security, BMA workers will collect garbage discarded by households more often and there will be no large-sized garbage bins on footpaths of main roads, he said. Garbage bins at bus stops here will also be re-designed and, of course, and be replaced with transparent ones in the near future.

MRT removed all the trash cans at Subway entrances, none on the street too and the results are more than usual loose trash about the streets. MRT also this week started baggage searches at the entrances. They do a very quick look. I wonder how long this will last.

All the elevators are closed, not sure why elevators are a security risk. Even in the building where I work out each of the three elevators now have resident guards on board. One guard is killer cute.

BTS seems less concerned, trash cans gone but no searches.

Just had a sunday at MacDonals on Silom and went looking for the trash can, all gone, the lady said just throw the trash on the floor.

    good try

but a bomb hidden in TRASH
in a clear trashcan won't be readily apparent
