Australian tourist shot dead in Thai bar

Australian tourist Pamela Fitzpatrick shot as an innocent bystander in a drive-by shooting at a crowded bar in Kanchanaburi. Police believe the shooting on Monday was part of a long-running dispute between the bar's British expatriate owner and local residents. Fitzpatrick the 26 year-old nurse from Brisbane later died at a hospital in the Thai capital Bangkok, 130-km from Kanchanaburi from the single gun shot through the neck.-AP SCMP

Could being a successful foreign entrepreneur in Thailand come with a certain amount of risk? I seem to remember awhile back a Dutch shrimp farmer receiving the same treatment by irate locals.
