    August 20, 2007 extra holiday ?

The Cabinet Tuesday approved the proposal of the Election Commission to make August 20 an extra holiday to encourage workers to return home to cast vote in the national referendum on August 19.

Deputy Government Spokeswoman Netpreeya Choomchaiyo said the Cabinet assigned the Finance Ministry to consider whether the day should be a bank holiday or not.

If yes, plan ahaed. Traffic will be horrible.

I found out today that Monday, August 20th my office will be closed due to elections...so I think every business/ factory will be closing ...makes it a three day weekend.

    Yes Plan ahead.....

Inter-provincial buses are free, too, and second- and third-class train fares have been reduced by half.

This will allow more people to return to their home towns to cast ballots.
