    BLOOD - Can you help?

    Copy of E-mail requesting help.....

    "Dear Khun Waraporn,

    We need your help .

I have been advised by a friend who works in PTTAR Company in Rayong that her husband is in urgent need of a blood transfusion.
His blood type is AB negative and this is unusual for Thai people.
The Sirikit hospital advises this blood group is more common for people from Europe.
Can you help by circulating this e-mail to expats group and if any one who can donate some blood to assist this poor person?

If you can please contact Khun Nunthiya at her mobile phone number 081 8632850 or Khun Nida at Phone no. 081-8655786

Thank you vry much in advance for all your help.

    Regaards,
    Nida starrs."

Please jinks ... who are these people?:

    Khun Waraporn
    Khun Nunthiya
    Nida (S)tarrs

    What is this place?:

    PTTAR Company in Rayong

Do you know anything about the details?
Is there a compelling reason (unspecified) folks on this Board would give blood for this cause (unknown)?
Shirley my dear man ... giving blood is a serious decision, triggered by serious need, agreed to for serious reasons. None of which appears in your thread.
Appealing to the potentially sympathetic usually requires some sympathetic context.

As a regal Moderator of this Board, you are ~ as usual ~ wrapped in an enigma, difficult to decipher, comin' at us, outta the blue.

I can't believe anyone could possibly be so callous and inhuman as to make such a statement! Any person in good health can donate blood. I and many others do so quite frequently. If this was my blood type, which it isn't, I wouldn't hesitate to oblige not knowing a further thing about the people in need.

Smiles you are one fucking unfeeling and heartless shit. Don't ever darken my doorstep you fucking cold-blooded bastard.

Please sir, comport yourself. I was not having at the (potential) quest, but asking for details only ... as there were precisely none. Can you provide more than jinks, who does a very poor job indeed?

FYI: My old man would enthusiastically deny the "fucking cold-blooded bastard" part . . . though to be honest, I might think about it for awhile.

And a fellow Aussie to boot! Disappointing. :headbang:

And I presume that you would also ask for details about a drowning person before allowing him in the lifeboat?

Smiles, you are scum, plain and simple.

Re: BLOOD - Can you help?

Can anyone cite what the restrictions are for donating blood in Thailand?

As a man who admits he's had sexual contact with another man (since 1977) I'm not eligible to donate blood here in the US, per the Red Cross. That would reduce the pool on THIS board by 99.9%, I would think.

    HIV, AIDS
You should not give blood if you have AIDS or have ever had a positive HIV test, or if you have done something that puts you at risk for becoming infected with HIV.

You are at risk for getting infected if you:

    * have ever used needles to take drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor
    * are a male who has had sexual contact with another male, even once, since 1977
    * have ever taken money, drugs or other payment for sex since 1977
    * have had sexual contact in the past 12 months with anyone described above
    * received clotting factor concentrates for a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia
    * were born in, or lived in, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea,Gabon, Niger, or Nigeria, since 1977.
    * since 1977, received a blood transfusion or medical treatment with a blood product in any of these countries, or
    * had sex with anyone who, since 1977, was born in or lived in any of these countries. Learn more about HIV Group O, and the specific African countries where it is found.

You should not give blood if you have any of the following conditions that can be signs or symptoms of HIV/AIDS

    * unexplained weight loss (10 pounds or more in less than 2 months)
    * night sweats
    * blue or purple spots in your mouth or skin
    * white spots or unusual sores in your mouth
    * lumps in your neck, armpits, or groin, lasting longer than one month
    * diarrhea that wonтАЩt go away
    * cough that wonтАЩt go away and shortness of breath, or
    * fever higher than 100.5 F lasting more than 10 days.

I'm not a big fan of Smiley, but in this instance he is correct. Just who are these people and why is the gay community being asked to reach out? I also adore the people who would so gladly reach out to help strangers via an internet request, but then add: if, only, but, (insert excuse here) and then bash anyone who asks for clarification as to who, what, where, when, why.

[X] No! The rules for blood donations are there for a reason. And the Thai Red Cross in Bangkok sticks to them.
[X] No! Perfect blood testing is neither possible nor cheap. http://www.bloodbook.com/index.html

Yet again you have just proved how very naive you are and a danger to the general public. Rules and regulations concerning donated blood are there for a very good reason, and if you think all stocks are checked in Thailand of all places then you are not only very naive but completely stupid as well.
