Well, those are a clean cut, good looking, group of young men! Not a tattoo in sight!

Re: History of Soi Twilight
Yes. I'm not surprised. Tattoos are a relatively recent addition to the scene. Recent and unwelcome.
-
Re: History of Soi Twilight
What do you mean by recent? Tattoos have been around in large numbers since I first came to Thailand in 2009.
When I was at the Soi Twilight demolition site in early 2020, I found some VHS cassettes whose titles suggested that they recordings of shows or special events in Soi Twilight. A friend has a VHS player, and when I'm back in Thailand we will have a look.
I have more memorabilia salvaged from the demolition site, if someone wants to start a museum, contact me.

Some of us actually like our slightly scruffy, tattooed straight boys.
Some of us like slightly scruffy tattooed straight boys because they are better kissers than the screechy little fem boys since it's all a game to them while the little fem boy wants to save his special kisses for the dream man that he is hoping to meet...
Some of us like slightly scruffy tattooed straight boys because you know he is going to make love like a tiger when you get back to the hotel...like the tiger he has tattooed on his back...
Some of us like slightly scruffy tattooed straight boys because we love zooming through the city after midnight on the back of a bike on which the boy has blown all his savings because it makes him look and feel like the young god he is...
Yes, some of us like our slightly scruffy, tattooed boys.

There were tattoos then, but we also had wide choice of boys free from tattoos and many other boys with perhaps one modest tattoo which did not ruin their appearance.
As can be seen by the following photos. In all these pictures, there is a good selection of tattoo free or near tattoo free boys.
Now there are many boys with tats all up their back, their front, on the arms AND the neck. Whether or not these are the ones who struggle to get clients, I don't know. That's because I don't off them and don't get to hear their life stories.
[The Tattoo debate probably belongs on a separate thread, so as not to spoil the original Soi Twilight thread. Even my contribution to the tattoo debate includes third party photo evidence obviously from Pattaya]

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Awesome selection. As well as the lack of gruesome tattoos, I see none of those awful, make me look older, moustaches either!

I find tattoos quite erotic when nicely done on an erotic body.

I totally agree with you.
I did not go with a gay boy in years. I just love these slim manly straight tattooed boys. Let them watch porn on their phone and they fuck so good. Like the tigers of their tattoos indeed :)

I find obviously gay boys most of which you are likely to find in the Complex rather repulsive, as for tattoos it depends on the guy, here is one with no tattoos who I find very attractive:~
Of those many pics in an above post of “boys” without tattoos only #43 is anything close to being a real boy.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Returning to Christian's post which criticised my suggestion that tattoos are a relatively new thing on the scene. I agree with him...yes , they were probably around in 2009. but not much before that.
In other words, a relatively recent development.
The same goes for dyed hair....it was a la mode a few years go - recently- but is now rare.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Tattoos and moustaches really spoil things.
However, in Thailand, sadly it seems fashionable and totally acceptable to have tattoos.
I suspect that both are less common on lads from Laos and Cambodia. Which reminds me, here's a photo of Toolbox Bar in Phnom Penh which somone posted in recent years. Not a tattoo in sight.
Of course, in Thailand having tattoos seems to be endorsed at a high level.
I just can't imagine the head of state of the UK, Canada, Australia, NZ etc having a tattoo.
-
Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
My friend Doug owner of Toolbox prefers gay fem twinks a la Winner Go Go however, I have met real boys there as well, BTW the boy with the nice ass in the pic is rather appealing. If Cambodia gets back to normal for travelers Toolbox box on show nights is a great alternative to Blue Chili’s tired drag show.

When I was a young whippersnapper, the only people who had tattoos, mainly of anchors, also had beards and moustaches and smoked pipes and sang 'hey ho me hearties' and wore bell bottoms.
The men were probably similar.
Did nothing for me then and nothing today.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
It won't be long before young people think of tattoos as something their grandparents have got, and therefore very much off the agenda.
Personally I much prefer bodies (of both sexes) as nature intended.

If a straight person were to say that they'd be jumped upon ( quite rightly) - the fact that gay fem twinks aren't your thing it seems doesn't make them any less 'real boys", they're just real boys who like to be gay fem twinks.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Most are not even "fem".
Oddly, certain morose members love to repeatedly moan about the same topics, whilst simultaneously advising others on how to post more interesting content.
An alternative approach could be to lead by example.

Since when has he been head of state ?
Unless they have had some recent changes, here is the Canadian head of state. Could you imagine her getting a tattoo ?:)

Oh! She too had a Maltese Cross tattooed on the skin privy only to the Duke...

In my extensive research, I found no relationship between sexual orientation and number/size of tattoos. However they favor different styles.
I'm not into fem boys anyway, so my opinion is biased, but I find some of the tattoos popular with gay boys hideous.
I'm more into straight boys, so again bias, the types of tattoos popular with straight boys have rarely been an issue.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
The heavily tattooed man is from Myanmar, as far as I know. His tattoos, that's what the word "hideous" is for. But he seems to have a following, judging by all the content and presence on social media.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
The form of tattoos in Th has changed a lot: in the past they nearly all were those semi-sacrified pictures, also much favoured by the Thai boxers in muang thai for fighting off the bad spirits and evil etc.
In the west there is really big bisnis now hat those young and daring enterprising guys are falling in nrs. to remove the sagging and worn tattoos they so much liked a year or 10/12 ago. Or maybe they now get married etc. and the wife asks. With a statement from a psychologist you may even have it done in the health insurance in some countries.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
My first visit to Bangkok was in 1978. I had no idea how to find a gay guy for sex, so I asked a taxi driver. I don't know where we went, but it was a place which had girls and guys. I chose a sexy boy who had an amazing, to me, tattoo of a dragon, tail at navel and head roaring down into his bush! Sex was good, too!

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Anyone who decided not to off a boy because of a tattoo is seriously weird and in Pattaya seriously under sexed. They've all got them.

I’ve seen in some films that many fem gay “boys” have a wave like tattoo on their lower back just above their ass crack.
I think it would be nice to see a tattoo on a boy’s butt cheek “Properly of ____”.

Oh, and then "Property of ______" could be filled in with a washable marker as it would change regularly?! :)

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
One of my ex boyfriends went to a temporary tattoo parlor near Walking Street to get a tattoo. After it wouldn't wash off the next morning he went back to complain, but the place wasn't there.

A modest little tattoo in a discrete location can be almost tasteful, see photo. However, even here, he would be better off spending the money on waxing.

Indeed! From the style of tattoo, you can guess the year(s) it was done. Having one's year of birth tattooed across abdomen in that font is a recent (2019) phenomenon. By coincidence, the boy in picture (from social media, I don't know him in person) is the first I learnt of who has a tattoo removed (the Chinese character on the side of his forehead).

I cannot clearly remember foregoing a boy for his tattoos, but it may have played a role in deciding whom to off. Oversexed, because there is so much choice that I can be picky and forego a boy whose tattoos I don't like. Plenty of boys without tattoos.

It's called arse antlers.
Stickman once wrote that there was Japanese man who paid big bucks for ladies in Soi Thaniya having his name tattooed on their body.

That butterfly above the ass is my stuff of nightmares and would make the boy non-offable for me. However the following (from social media, I don't know the boy) would be no problem (I would even go as far as saying I like the matching tattoo and shorts). It makes no sense!

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
I would never take a boy with tattoos on his face. A modest tattoo on his arm or leg to cover an accident scar I can fully accept..
..I do recall once, a long time ago now, being asked by a mamasan I knew well if I could take care of a newbie girl who had just arrived. Fresh and innocent looking, just 18 years old.
The following day she spent the money I gave her on a monstrous tattoo on her leg - I was so depressed..

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
Thanks for that, dinagram. OMG. As P likes to say when he's boasting about his English skills.
I recognise that there is a chasm on this forum that can never be bridged but I recall my first visits and the characteristics that made the guys of Boyztown so irresistible. One of them was the smoothness of their skin, its colour , its texture....its "feel". I don't recall ever seeing tattoos in those days, of course. When they became popular, perhaps more than a decade later, I recall my appalled reaction at something so beautiful being transformed into something trashy. And I still feel the same.

Re: Thai guys, to tattoo or not to tattoo . . .
The first pic above the guy without the tattoo is attractive the one with him should consider a diet, the second group pic looks like a movie poster for The invasion of the body snatches.
