Buddhism and sex

Does anyone know what the Buddhist religion's attitude to sex is? I'm sure it is not the guilt-filled attitude of the Christian church, as evidenced by the open sexual behaviour in some Buddhist countries I know of; viz. Thailand and Japan.
I was speaking in April to a guy in Krazy Dragon (who I offed) and he said he was about to join the monkhood and that sex was not allowed. "Not even chuck wow!" he said. I pressed him for more info but his English wasn't up to it.
BTW he was a tiger in bed!
