Mandalay information

I am in the early stages of planing a side trip from BKK in November for my thai partner and myself. We would like to be able to spend 3 - 4 nights in Mandalay.
Could anyone help with accommodation suggestions or know of a local guide ( hopefully gay ) that we could contact.

When in Mandalay I have stayed, most recently, at the Zegyo Hotel in one of the bungalows on the roof! It's Chinese run and, as its name suggests, it's right opposite the Market and thus very central. I intend, next visit, to stay at the Mandalay City Hotel which is close by but somewhat more upmarket.

I have used an excellent guide, not gay, but if you PM me I can give you his telephone number.
