    Thais spend alomost the same

    http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_new ... ?id=130656

Interesting article. It appears 15 million foreign tourists spend around 600 Billion Bahat, while the locals spend around 400 Billion. Given these facts, why should we as farangs expect special treatment. Rather we should consider part of the industry and be humble like the Thais in our ways. If we adopt their ways, I am sure we are going to be more welcome and treated properly by the boys. Guys, let us carefully watch the market trends and the direction it is moving on. More Asian tourists than the farangs. We dont dominate the markets any more. So let us not live in the false paradise

Or to put it another way, 15 million foreign tourists spend 600 billion baht (400,000 baht each), while 60 million Thais spend 400 billion baht (67,000 baht each). I think that's a 6:1 ratio in favour of foreign tourists. What's your argument again, stevekoolguy?

    Thay are also kind

Have u noticed that they (Thais) are also very humble, polite and kind when they deal with whether be it a waiter, begger, workers, taxi drivers. When they holiday internally, they treat the staff at the hotels, bars, resturants, vendors, anyone with respect. They speak softly, and with a smile. Lets do some soul search and change our ways. Otherwise, the warning is around the corner ..... we are no longer welcome. We have already lost 50% of the respect we enjoyed several years ago

If you had read any book on the subject you would know that the Thais smile as a form of body language, to avoid conflict. It has nothing to do with being friendly.

My Point is you are dead wrong

All 67 Million people can not afford to travel, like in your own country all don't travel. So let us take a certian percentage of the population that has the disposaable income and then do your math. Also they earn a Bahat to bahat, unlike you and me bring a Dollar and Pound and so many times of their money. So take your 400,000 per foreigner and divide it by 35 and then take the population and say 50% spend on travelling, then you will find you spend less than them. Don't dick further, it will smell on you Buddy

So you think making up the numbers will help you prove your point?

You mean the intellectuals who make things up to fit their idea of the world? Henry Cate and so on?

my friend who works in in-room dining at a (the?) 5* hotel here in Pattaya would strongly dispute this statement!
There are only 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't.
