Coucou!, You wanna buy a kangaroo?

The Australians are selling their Kangaroos to anyone with $1,007 USD to plump up their treasury. In addition there is a small commission to the seller, maybe $25 USD. Anyone in the world can buy a kangaroo and legally possess one but best to keep them corralled.
No, not the furry ones but golden Kangaroos($100 AUD face) of 1 Troy Ounce of .9999 Gold. To my knowledge, this is the first time a gold coin has reached the $1000 USD marque. For a good deal American Buffaloes($50 USD face) are selling for $998 with same gold content. The Buffalo is a more ├йl├йgant coin with a noble Indian on the obverse in lieu of a noble Queen.

    Markups

As gold just closed around $960 an ounce that a pretty big markup. In fact if you look at the site you posted its the biggest markup of any of the traded bullion coins.

BTW, not to nitpick but gold did trade above $1000/oz back in March and has sold off since. It seems to be making another run to $1000 right now.

ok, ok, I was nitpicking :geek:

I don't believe that Her Majesty is for sale! But a British Sovereign is .2354 troy oz gold and not minted since 1925 (correct me if I am wrong) and maybe sells at $300 USD as a guess. Need input from the Brits on this one.

    Yes, you are wrong :clown:

Regular production of gold sovereigns stopped in 1979, but the coins remain in production today in yearly collectors' editions.
