So what time did you find it closed?

It was certainly up and running as usual when I drove past at 11.30pm. I imagine that it has more to do with the payment of tea money for Bangkok's finest than any new government directive.

the BIB were out in Silom again last nite, closed Soi 4 about 1am. They were all over the road giving the taxi drivers a hard time. Didnt get to DJ, but a large outpouring of people around Soi 2 about 2am suggests it close about then. Also noticed a lot of them sranding in the entry of Soi 2/1 but not going in, looks like G.O.D. wasnt happening either.
Seems like we are back to pre-coup arrangements next will it be raids on the saunas?

What's the reason for the closures? Surely not just Purachai-style early bed-time?

When I was in Bangkok 2 weeks ago, DJ was raided by Police at around 12:30am, but when every one had pee'd in a cup, the Police left and DJ carried on till at least 2:30, when I left.

Maybe this is more to do with the current crack-down on drugs.

no, it seems to be 'early to bed' policy. They are not testing for drugs this weekend, just enforcing closing times.

    early closings

Last weekend- Friday night, Xray for Men in Pattaya was closed early (around1:30 ) because of a police check up..
This weekend I went to Bangkok for my R&R and all of the bars on Soi 2 closed at 2am. I was in DJ's and it was as if someone had pulled out of the music. G.O.D. was also closed Friday and Saturday night. The story (rumor) is that it is the new government that is flexing its muscles... as soon as a few months pass by, everything will be back to normal.
