Even if you don't usually read the PG weekly report, it's worth it this week for this unbelievable [feel free to substitute the adjective of your choice!] story:

"The Glitz, Glitter, Glam Gay Wedding of the Decade!!!
Superfly Lounge, friends and the community of Bangkok are ecstatic to announce the marriage of Matthew Freeman Hickey and Prateep Maikornburi.
Bangkok, Thailand, October 3rd, 2007: The marriage of Matthew Freeman Hickey, a 38 year old American Citizen, and Prateep Maikornburi, a 24yo student at Sripatum University, will be held at Superfly Lounge on Wednesday, October 3rd at 10:00pm. This is one of the few gay weddings ever publicized in Thailand. Gay marriages are not recognized in Thailand, however this does not detract from the meaning of this ceremony for the couple. This event also wishes to bring to the attention of the public that many same sex couples wish to be married, but are denied the legal right in both Thailand and The United States.

┬╖ At estimates of over 3 million baht this is the most expensive gay wedding in Thailand history!
┬╖ A Christian Dior inspired Houte Couture wedding gown with over 400 meters of fabric is to be worn by Matthew in the ceremony.
┬╖ The 300+ invited guests include celebrities, multiple performers and stage personalities from all over Bangkok will be on hand to witness this great evening!
┬╖ Dress Code is "Camp Couture"тАж insuring an event that gives all the creative talent attending to dress up and dress to be seen as few events let you do!
┬╖ A gay American priest will be performing the Christian Ceremony at 10:00pm. The couple will also be doing a Traditional Thai marriage ceremony in the hometown of Khun Prateep at the end of October."

As it's presumably now history, I'm anticipating seeing those wedding pictures here in due course!
"The fruits of peace and tranquility... are the greatest goods... while those of its opposite, strife, are unbearable evils. Hence we ought to wish for peace, to seek it if we do not already have it, to conserve it once it is attained, and to repel with all our strength the strife which is opposed to it. To this end individual[s]... and in even greater degree groups and communities are obliged to help one another... from the bond or law of human society." [Marsilio dei Mainardini (c.1275-1342), Defensor Pacis]
