chuckwow The birthday present from ROP for Gold members this year is 50% savings on round-trip award flights. Flights to be booked and travel commenced in the month of your birthday (or the month immediately preceding or following.) Tickets valid for 12 months.

    That means BKK-LHR-BKK for only 32,500 miles in Y or 52,500 miles in C or JFK/LAX-BKK-NYC/LAX for 42,500 in Y or 62,500 in C

I am planning to fly London to Sydney and back, with stop-overs in Bangkok each way, in business class for just 62,500 miles!

There is also a bunch of discount vouchers from various hotels; Burasari, Central Resorts, Best Westin, Sofitel etc, some Spas and Hertz/Avis too. I don't bother with all that.

    Thanks, Sen Yai

so this year they give away the same gift as they did last year.

Last year I also used this gift for flight from London to Sydney with stopovers in Bangkok on First class. I enjoyed it. If this year's gift is the same as last year as you said, I will go to New Zealand on First class again.

    not same as last year

The birthday gift is almost the same as last year, ther is some more flexibility now. Last year you could not change the outbound date after booking, now it is flexible, as long as it stays within the three months around your birthday. You still can't reroute or recredit the miles.

At any rate it's a very good deal, basically for the amount of miles you need for a trip in Economy you get a Royal First roundtrip. And the new First is really top class nowadays (as is the Royal Executive).
