Escaping Thailand for Cambodia during Songkran?

Escaping Thailand and going to Cambodia for Songkran???

Remember that the "Khmer New Year" is celebrated
    from April 13-15th...
so be sure to check your reservations and plan your trip...

as many businesses are "closed" for the annual celebration...
same-same as in Thailand...some are closing from April 12-19th...
as many Cambodians return to the home villages to celebrate :-)

    "Cambodian New Year,
    Cambodia

    2008-04-13 - 15 Apr 2008

Known as 'Chaul Chnam Thmey' in the Khmer language,
the Cambodian New Year is a three-day celebration that usually falls in mid-April.

The event is a grand occasion throughout the country and is celebrated
with religious ceremonies at shrines and temples.

ItтАЩs also common to share a lavish meal with friends, families and loved ones.

Celebrations typically end with a loud fireworks display."

    E-Visa for Cambodia on-line here:

    http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/

    from the Cambodian government website:

"More than 55,000 travelers have chosen e-Visa

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched e-Visa,
which enables you to apply for a Cambodia tourist visa online.

Instead of applying through Cambodian Embassy,
all you need to do is to complete the online application form
and pay with your credit card.

After receiving your Visa through email,
print it out and bring it along when you travel to Cambodia."

Enjoy the Songkran break from Thailand ...

Thanks for that info Jim. I am off to Issan for Songkran, otherwise your suggestion is something I may well have considered, certainly as an option to staying here in Pattaya, that's for sure!. Don't get me wrong, I love Songkram and the way it is celebrated, in many parts of Thailand.

However, Songkran ceased to be any pleasure for me in Pattaya a long while ago, this being due to the incredibly immature behaviour of too many imbeciles. Things wouldn't be so bad, if you didn't have to put up with both the imbeciles and their behaviour, for 7 bloody days, as well as nights too. Let me add, that the larger majority of these imbeciles of whom I speak, that act without any thought given to the safety of others such as when they are shooting, or throwing water into the eyes of passing motor cyclist's are;....... yes you guessed it,.............. farangs.

No Thanks and No Way Jose, Not for me anymore.

    Cheers again Jim.

    George.
