Each year we get the same members who complain about charities. This is a UK charity, not a local rip off NGO

ItтАЩs that time of the year again when we start organising the New Year Parties that we have organised for the past fourteen years for five-hundred plus kids in Pattaya.

To that end we have launched our 2016 New Year Party Appeal on our website (link below) and we invite you to take a look at our plans and ask if you will consider helping us to make a very special day for these kids?
As in previous years we have kept the suggested donation per child at ┬г2.50 and we are sure that with your support we will be able to provide a great day for the kids within the budget we have set ourselves. For less than the cost of a cup of coffee or a pack of cigarettes you can help give these kids a day to remember.

We do hope that you can see your way clear to help us get the New Year off to a happy start for these kids who, in the past few months, have suffered considerable hardships following the tropical storms and severe flooding that hit Pattaya during September and October.

Thanks to the member that sent me detail from last year. The party provides a very important feature for the very poor young people of the district.

Some of the worst slums in Thailand can be found in Pattaya where children consider that тАШnormalтАЩ living conditions can be as basic as plastic sheeting supported by a few bamboo sticks, or huts made from corrugated iron sheets and odd bits of timber. This year owing to the students now being widely spread in schools across the city we have changed the format slightly as bringing the scholarship students together for one big party is logistically impossible.


SLUM CHILDREN:
It is difficult to estimate the number of children who will attend the party but we are budgeting for one hundred, and they will be given a gift and a family food pack to take home after the Party. These are children from the various slums dotted around Pattaya. We will combine the Party for the slum children with the one for the thirty kids of the Baan Khong Por ChildrenтАЩs Home.

SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS:
This year we are not able to get all the students together at the same time, so during my time in Pattaya we will visit each school to try to meet each student and the money we would normally spend on a Party will be used to increase the size of the gift and a family food pack that we give the kids. With things still being financially difficult for the students we are helping the extra food supplies will be welcome.

HUAY PHONG ChildrenтАЩs Home:
There are about three-hundred children at this home aged between 4 & 17 who have been rescued from the streets, abandoned by their parents due to poverty, run away from home because of abuse or rescued from working in the sex trade. The home is part of the Thai GovernmentтАЩs Department for the Prevention of Human Trafficking. For their Party the kids plan the meal, enjoy entertainment from the other kids, dance the evening away at a disco and sing their hearts out at Karaoke before leaving with a special gift and falling into bed near to midnight! You can get an idea of the childrenтАЩs enjoyment by viewing photographs of last yearтАЩs party on our website; the photo of the two young boys pictured at the top of this appeal was taken at the Hauy Phong Home where the boys are in care.

We appreciate that the economy everywhere is still difficult and with that in mind we are keeping the cost for each child to attend a party at ┬г2.50 per child. Although in Thailand as elsewhere the cost of food and just about everything else has risen we are confident that with your support we can still maintain the high standard of food, entertainment and gifts of previous years within the same ┬г2.50 per head budget that we have set for the previous thirteen years, any remaining funds donated in excess of our budgeted costs will be spent on additional gifts and food for the children.
The children at Hauy Phong look forward to the Party with great excitement for it is the one day of the year when they can forget about their problems and enjoy a hearty meal, great entertainment, receive special treasured gifts and it gives them a memorable start to the New Year by knowing that others are thinking and care about them. The Parties cost only ┬г2.50 per head and everyone involved in organising these parties gives their time voluntarily.
This means that 100% of your donation will be used for the children
