    Internet censorship in Thailand

Ask any Thai and they'll proudly tell you that "Thai" means "free". However General Tasty* and his band of merry men seem hell-bent on emulating what's known as The Great Firewall of China. In this they're not alone. This Forbes' article suggests that the greatest threat to Internet freedom is governments: http://www.forbes.com/sites/emmawoollac ... ternet-is/

    * "ocha" means "tasty" n'est ce pas?

What goes around . . . ! Strange, isn't it, that this is almost what Thaksin wanted, even getting editors fired when he didn't like certain articles! But then he was not hell bent on controlling thoughts - only the expression of those different from his own! As for internet censorship, the Democrats were worse. The number of sites blocked during their reign rose exponentially.

Whatever the ostensible reason for the coup it all boils down to "Red Shirt corruption bad, Yellow Shirt corruption good".

I'd describe it as Class War with racial overtones.

Can you, please, explain the racial aspect?

The dark skins of Isaan people (culturally and linguistically distinct) are mocked by the royalists. who refer to them as "buffaloes".The ruling elite is dominated by Chi-Thai.

Your eyeball-rolling determination to attach a hoary old Marxian class-warfare tag onto Thailand's latest military coup is nothing short of, er, risible. Always steering in the direction of cliched simplicity at every turn in the road, eh Ollie?
You achieved some minor traction with your one-and-only spin on things at Baht Stop ('mongst the sheep) ... but hopefully not here.

    But do carry on ...
Just another reason why I love living in Thailand

    Having watched with interest....
The happenings since the General took over...
it appears that all colors of shirts are subject to new standards of government.

I find that good and am hopeful its successful efforts continue to tame corruption and
the abiding of laws in Thailand.

    Thank you, Oliver.
If only those pale faced elites knew the true value of Isaan guys - they are the pride of the country as we know
