Return of a Pattaya icon (?)

The latest edition of the Pattaya Mail confirms the return to business of a familiar face to frequenters of Boyztown - Mr Richard Burk, late of Amor and that rather odd cafe-cum-art-gallery that succeeded it.

It is, moreover, good to see that the old leopard has not changed the characteristic spots that so endeared him (not!) to several previous posters on this board, for we read that "at Richard's insistence" (and you can just see him in your mind's eye, at that point, looming obsequiously over the diners and wringing his hands together) Miss Terry Diner's party was cajoled into trying the lemon meringue pie.

"The fruits of peace and tranquility... are the greatest goods... while those of its opposite, strife, are unbearable evils. Hence we ought to wish for peace, to seek it if we do not already have it, to conserve it once it is attained, and to repel with all our strength the strife which is opposed to it. To this end individual[s]... and in even greater degree groups and communities are obliged to help one another... from the bond or law of human society." I have been intending to visit for a while but each time I get poor weather and put it off again. I know he is hard to shut up at times, but I like his food and enjoy his wine offerings.

    Thanks for the information.
The food is probably good but has he learnt to leave the diners alone when they are eating?
I am convinced that Amor's failure was because he just could not 'shut the fuck up'.
In Boyztown, Tuesday was always a good night to go to Amor - Richard's night off.

A friend and I ate there a couple of weeks ago. We arrived about 8pm and for most of our meal were eerily alone - not another diner. It perked up a bit after that. We both thought the food above average and would return. No sign of Richard (I think it was a Thursday if anyone wants to take notes!) but attentive service from the waiting staff. Clearly a lot of money has gone into setting up this business and I hope it succeeds. There is a lot of development going on in that area, so it's probably a matter of sitting tight and waiting for better days.

Maybe someone can advise us of the night he takes off at this new place!

Ah good news indeed. I'll be returning here upon my return to LOS in December!

I've been missing my trips to Amor since Richard closed up, was my preferred place for checking out the happenings of Boystown.
