Gran Canaria

Having a short holiday there next month - I see plenty of general gay maps, guides etc but no mention of any horizontal refreshment scene.

Anybody have any info?

gay scene is centered around the jumbo center...and only comes alive in the evening, during the day its a shopping mall/center. Nothing like Thailand..and mostly older guys...I stayed in a gay complex and had lotsa fun with fellow guests...but again nothing like Thailand

Oh yeah, thanks - I've been in Spain umpteen times and I know that's it's very much a late-night scene, and I know about the Yumbo Centre in GC.

Having said that - in Torremolinos or Malaga or Barca there are rent bars and whilst (as you rightly say) it is nothing like Thailand, the fact remains that they exist. However I can find no mention of any in Gran Canaria. It's not a life or death situation, I just wondered if anybody had some inside info which was not publicly available.

I've been there several times and can confirm its nothing like Thailand. However I enjoyed the gay section of the beach which is between Playa des Ingles and Maspalomas. The beach is excellent very clean with lovely white sand although swimming in the sea can be dangerous having high waves and currents. Nude sunbathing is the rule on the gay beach and flirting followed by sex in the dunes can be enjoyed.
