    Facebook "friends"

I was friends with Sunnee Plaza for a short time and several cute guys tried friending me since we both had a mutual friend (Sunnee Plaza). Figured they were money bois and ignored them, except for one who works in Sunnee.

I don't use gay Romeo as I prefer to wait till my trip and go to the bars. I don't like the idea of setting a meeting up and being disapointed or "trapped". It's wierd but now I find myself looking forward to meeting this guy even though our communication is very spotty.

Maybe he has heard of friends finding falangs and living happily everafter or has been given gifts from some, or maybe it's a way to network for more business. You can really take a journey when you click on his friends and his friends' friends. Some real cute guys. I find that most young asian gay men only have other young asian friends and would probably be embarrased being friended with anyone over thirty. Okay, I did subscribe to a real hot Malaysian guy and he hasn't deleted me yet, lol.

There must be some interesting stories about friending strangers and meeting them...etc. Let's hear yours.

    Re: Facebook "friends"

I am more careful about Facebook "friends" now because I had to delete my accounts on GR, SilverDaddies and ReconMen as I kept getting all kinds of strange messages and offers of eternal love from some truly weird men (many of them much younger than myself and not all from Thailand.)

I feel my skin crawling when a complete stranger without even a profile photograph - or one with a Thai pornstar's picture as his own (as if I wouldn't know the difference) - suddenly sends me a message addressed to "my dear" or "my darling" and then proceeds to talk about love forever (and NOT one word about sex at all) I'm afraid. :violent1:

    Re: Facebook "friends"

I prefer to meet people in real live first and become friends on facebook after that. But I'm not strict about that, I have a few friends on facebook I know only from chatting online. Some of them only because they were persistant about becoming friends on facebook. I don't accept invitations from people I don't know, and if I have little interest in meeting after chatting I don't accept the invitation.

A side note: it's not uncommon for Thais to befriend people on facebook they never met and probably will never meet. When I sat in an internet cafe with a Thai friend and we became friends on facebook, I saw him sending friend requests to some of my friends.

So far no problem with spam on facebook or gayromeo. Except inviations for farmville and other facebook games, but you can block these (which I do).

Indeed, gay Thai boys often have other gay Thai boys as friends. By checking friend's friends I found the one or other whom I knew from real live or gayromeo and a lot of cuties. Many of my Thai friends on facebook have several Farang friends (I have one common facebook friend with another member of this board).

Facebook is more widespread among Thai gays than gayromeo, I often chat with Thais on camfrog who have facebook, but never heard of gayromeo.

    I don't think so.

Another side note: A friend told me (on the phone) that he is back in his hometown and busy studying (so I cannot come to meet him in his hometown). At the same time, he posts pictures from several places (far away from his hometown) on facebook. He must have gone on a study trip!

Third side note: checking what I wrote above, I found two further Thai boys I know on facebook. Once you start, there is no end.

They're probably spamming as many people as they can, maybe in hope of eventually recieving money.

lol, Another reason not to lie to your friends. I've found that a couple of guys must have blocked the viewing of their friends as I only see our mutual friend on one of their friend list.

I don't think so as most of these posts came from guys in my home country where we do not have quite the same wonderfully exuberant sex industry catering to gay men. And for the most part, they came from Chinese men close to where I live, too. And THAT's the really scary thought!
    :dontknow:

Sorry I didn't mean to be racist. I'm Thai-Chinese myself, though I don't live in Thailand :notworthy:
