Ah yes, I remember it well.....

When I am not in Thailand I spend my time chatting with guys on GayRomeo. I like doing that to get to know some guys, stay informed and to set-up a date or two. It also comes in handy to know many guys there who are willing to meet me quickly when I have free time after chatting with me online for months.

Last year I talked to many guys and promised to meet them all. I was even invited to a birthday party of a guy who promised to let me know where the party was going to be once I arrived. I promised to bring him a gift....

Well when I arrived in Bangkok, I sent messages to the guys I chat with based on how handsome they were to me. A few I met and others I was not able to meet. After a while I was happy meeting guys on the street or in bars and didn't spend much time online to meet the guys I chatted with. I never did get to log on to find out where that guy with the Birthday party was.

One night while at DJ station I met some very attractive guys and after a while I focused on one of the guys once I understood that they don't have fun in a group... I got lucky and one of the guys came back to my hotel with me and we took our time to talk and get to know each other. We had all night for fun so we took it slow. We had a drink of 100 Pipers and coke, watched the updates on the flood and took separate showers before we snuggled on the sofa.

During our snuggling we found out that we chatted with each other on GayRomeo. He was infact the guy who invited me to his birthday party! Once I realized that, I got up and went to my luggage and produced the birthday gift I packed for him! He was as surprised as I was that we would meet each other by chance!

I bring him up because I just got a message from a guy on GayRomeo saying hello and asking me if I remember him. It took me a short moment to remember meeting him but once I did the memories came flooding back. I even remember the secrets he told me when he was a little drunk and spilling his guts! HaHa!

That is one of the great things I like about Thailand, you never know who you might meet.

    These are the good'ol days

Yes, Virginia. There is a Santa Clause

I, too, am a frequent user of GR and have met many wonderful guys both in Thailand and other parts of the world through the site and have had great relationships with many as a result. I have NEVER been disappointed. About two years ago I had been chatting with a Thai guy (an English student he told me) for several months and we agreed to meet in Bangkok when I would come over in October. I said I would email him from my hotel when I arrived and tell him where I was staying. I did and got no response and assumed he had had a change of mind. I went on to The Phillippines for a week and came back and travelled in the north of Thailand before returning for a day or two in Bangkok before heading back to the states.
On my last night in Bangkok I decided I needed to get a few things and knew of the night bazzar near Sala Deng. I got there around six and had a cup of coffee at a Starbucks and was wandering down the street when a young Thai tucked an advertisement for massages (Best Massage) into my hand. I didn't pay any attention to it until about two blocks later and noticed a very good price for a foot massage, so headed back and the young Thai-not yet a masage boy- escorted me upstairs for my foot massage (he has since moved up the ranks to massage guy and is now one of my favorites in and out).
About mid way through my foot massage, a young attractive Thai man sat down in the chair next to mine and started a conversation. I could see he was interested in practicing his English. He looked vaguely familliar, but in the sense many farangs probably look vaguely similar to many Thais. You guessed it. He was my guy from GR I was to have met. I had miss copied an extra "e" into his email address and he never recieved it. What are the mathmatical odds of that serendipitious meeting!

I was hooked on gayromeo for about two years, but now I completely switched to camfrog. I too set up too many dates (I always add a "possibly" or "if I have time" and don't promise anything), can only take a small part of them. But after a few days in Thailand it turns out that it is easier to meet gay Thais in appropriate locations than meeting internet acquaintances as there is always significant calling/sms-ing before meeting and the problem of location and time. (Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: you can't be both at the same time at the same place!)

One drawback of camfrog is that you can't message a user who is offline (or I don't know how to do it), therefore I ask for gayromeo account, phone number, facebook account as well (facebook and gayromeo often provide photos). I gave up writing emails, as many of my Thai acquaintances have an email account, but obviously don't read them. But facebook is very popular, and sometimes I see that new friends are friends with old friends of mine.

So camfrog has no off-line messaging, and no photos...

    Sounds like a terrible system.

Why did you switch to it?

It must have some advantage.... No?

PS - What I want is an online system where I can magically meet Thai guys... in Thailand... online... and have them magically appear in my home in NYC... :drunken:

Camfrog (like camera and frog) has video, you can see your partner while you chat (unless their cam is turned to their ceiling, or covered, or they play videos recorded previously, or porn, or pictures, or ...). The percentage of boys who speak English is much smaller than on gayromeo, reading/writing Thai is extremely helpful on camfrog.

I wrote a longer post about camfrog a while ago: http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com...ns-t21730.html
