Thread: My HIV Positive BF

    My HIV Positive BF

Some time ago I wrote about my Thai boyfriend who had discovered he was HIV Positive when he developed Tuberculosis. He was taken to hospital in Bangkok and went rapidly down hill and I was warned that he wouldn't survive. But he pulled through and then when he was still very week he got Meningitis and again nearly died.

He's home now being looked after by relatives. I just spent a week with him and his bravery is amazing. He's still very ill and gets exhausted very quickly but he's a real fighter and if anyone can make it he can.

I was very impressed with the care he received at the hospital and the continuing care he's getting on his visits every two weeks. He's on at least nine different drugs and I was very pleased to see how carefully he takes them.

Hopefully the Tuberculosis will be cured in time (he's on the drugs for nine months) and he is putting on weight at last so it's more encouraging now than it was.

I'll be back in two months to check up on him.

    Khun Jon

Its great you are standing by his side Jon.The relatives are certainly good too.I take it you are HIV NEG?

Its a tragic disease ,which can be avoided, unlike another tragic disease called cancer.

    Re: My HIV Positive BF

Well done Jon for telling us all I wish you both a long and happy life. The moral in the tale for others, which I would like to spread, is maybe regular testing of both parties might help to spot infection at an early stage so it can be treated well before problems occure. A good way round this to make it acceptable for your Thai friends is to buy a health check up package and include HIV testing all very cheap at most Hospitals.

    Re: My HIV Positive BF

Thanks for the replies, yes I am HIV Negative which does reinforce the message about being careful as I've known my boyfriend for the last six years.

His relatives all know and are standing by him which was very good to see but others have not been as kind and he has suffered from prejudice in his village.

Now he has put on weight he will go out but when he was so thin he wouldn't let anyone see him.

Have fun, but please, stay safe.

    Don't give up!!

Jon, my genuine sympathy - I know the position only too well, as stated in my posting on Veraids a few months ago. It is great that you are supporting him, emotionally as well as financially - real support, without the need for any thanks or possibility of any reward, is rare indeed.

The recent posting on free HIV testing and treatment in Bangkok may well be of interest to your friend, and hopefully its availability may spread to Pattaya as well.

TB can take a long time to clear, but above all never give up and never let your friend give up either.

    Good luck

    Re: Don't give up!!

Actually if you read my second post I was confirming that I'm Negative not Positive so I have only been dealing with my boyfriends Positive status. Getting tested after I knew his result though was not a pleasant experience although I only had to wait about two hours it seemed like an eternity.

It's changed my whole outlook when I visit the Go Go Bars etc but it won't put me off Thailand which I love.

How has it changed your whole outlook? What do you mean?

    Re: Khun Jon's Tale

I posted as Kun Jon (not Khun Jon) but had to rejoin as my password wouldn't work. The rest of your post doesn't deserve an answer.

I'll not post again to this forum as the level of discussion as typified by your poisonous and ignorant piece is just not worth it.

Your attack on me is sickening and beneath contempt. I don't want to have anything to do with a Message Board where filth like you post.

    Re: Khun Jon's Tale

Without sounding to sarcastic I am confused how you have two handles along with password problems. ( Khun Jon not Kun Jon.) and could write about your boyfrind on 18th March this year being diagnosed with Gastric Ulcers!!

I asume this extra problem was in addition to all his other ailments described above in this thread under the current handle .

Maybe you should answer The princess her questions so someone on the site may be able to give you greater knowledge on the subject.
