    Mini Siam in Pattaya

    Mini Siam in Pattaya

How we got there: from Sunee with baht-bus to Sukhumvit Road (20 Baht) and from there with another baht-bus (hired for 50 Baht)to Mini Siam. Entry 300 Baht for me and 120 Baht for my Thai friend. ThatтАЩs new, usually Thais pay half of Farang, but I donтАЩt complain, saved 30 Baht!. ItтАЩs diagonally opposite Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, on the eastern side of Sukhumvit Road.

You can borrow umbrellas (to protect you from the sun) for free! Here picture of me just after entering.

The following seven pictures are a 360┬░ rotation (but better so watch them separately than in a panorama).

After Mini Europe (which in fact includes mouments from all over the world) there is Mini Siam (I read somewhere that all miniatures are scale 25:1).

    One half of Mini Siam:

The other half of Mini Siam:

    Some more arbitrary pictures:

    And back to Mini World:

My verdict: I love it! ItтАЩs brilliant, amazing, IтАЩm running out of adjectives to describe it. I probably will go again next time IтАЩm in Pattaya. I would say this is one of the major attractions (apart from the bars LOL) Pattaya has to offer.

Here some stuff for those who like to bitch, moan and complain: the entry for Farang is higher than for Thai, the miniatures are not to scale, тАЬMini EuropeтАЭ contains miniatures from all over the world, тАЬMini SiamтАЭ has a miniature of the old Don Mueang Airport, there are miniature airplains on the airport and minature cars on a brigde that were obviously once running in a circle, but now only a loudspeaker with the sound of a starting airplane is left at the airport, I would choose buildings for Mini Europe differently (e.g. they have a miniature of Palais de Chaillot which is opposite to the Eiffel tower on the other side of the Seine, and is in correct place in the display, but has no importance, whereas more important monuments like the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona are missing).

ThatтАЩs all wikipedia has on Mini Siam (under the Pattaya entry):
Mini Siam is a miniature model village which celebrates the heritages of Thailand with replicas of the most famous monuments and historical sites including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Democracy Monument, Bridge over the River Kwai, and Prasat Hin Phimai. Models of the Tower Bridge of London, Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Trevi Fountain are also displayed in the section called тАЬmini world".

They have a list with small photos and descriptions on their website, but some of the code is obviously wrong. You get this page:

    http://minisiam.com/zone_minisiam_en01.html

but there is no area to click to get to the following pages, however you can change the page number manually, e.g. to

    http://minisiam.com/zone_minisiam_en02.html

and then you have a bar where you can choose page 1-7.

    Re: Mini Siam in Pattaya

I was persuaded to visit Mini Siam some years ago by a boy who wanted to go for a day out

He loved it too. I thought it was the absolute rock bottom of tourist attractions and couldn't wait to leave!

Each to his own, I guess...
"The fruits of peace and tranquility... are the greatest goods... while those of its opposite, strife, are unbearable evils. Hence we ought to wish for peace, to seek it if we do not already have it, to conserve it once it is attained, and to repel with all our strength the strife which is opposed to it. To this end individual[s]... and in even greater degree groups and communities are obliged to help one another... from the bond or law of human society." [Marsilio dei Mainardini (c.1275-1342), Defensor Pacis]

Reminds me a lot of Windows of the World in Shenzhen China just over the border from Hong Kong. At W of the W, they is a miniature of almost every major city in the world. Has a large pathway with food stalls as well as a monorail, golf carts and guides that you can hire. Met some very very friendly mainland China boys in that park. As I don't speak the language I dont know if they were being freindly to their guests, never saw round eyes or what. I did really enjoy it. :dontknow:
