    Healthcare for ex pats

    Hi Gents,

I am just trying to give you an alternative option to look at regards your health insurance needs, although I am saying nothing against BUPA.

This outfit are based in Bangkok, they have offered me the best insurance package, even though I will be in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

They do, of course, cover Thailand and all Asia.

If anybody wants a quote or just to check them out, here's the person I dealt with and the company.

    The contact is Richard Haigh.

This is also an excellent and affordable health insurance option for expats living in Asia:

Kevin, how did this company handle pre-existing conditions?
There are only 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

according to the wording, it says that pre existing conditions that ocurred within the last 10 years that required follow up treatment.

    Hi,

They've told me any treatment I need for the throat cancer situation including consultations, I must do myself. Fairly standard to all insurance cover, I believe, as its pre existing.

When I tried to fill out the online application on that insurance mentioned by Kevin, I found that the age limit is 65. That's a real problem with expat health insurance coverage. You can be as healthy as a 40 year old but if your are over a certain age, they won't accept you as a new applicant, even with a medical exam. In my case, I have never been able to find any company willing to insure a new applicant over 70, no matter your state of health, even if you pass the physical with flying colors.

Great info Kev. I'm a little late probably in saying this but nice to see you back on here! I'm with AXA PPP for what it's worth. Think I'll be going back to BUPA tho.
