    BKK: Xmas wkend

You readers staying in BKK, do you know what special events (dinners...shows) that will be going on at the gay venues in BKK for the holidays? Thanks

I would imagine local gay websites would have listings for such things.

"local gay sites" ...isn't this one???????? Yes, there are couple special events at Babylon and I've been told a special dinner at Balcony Xmas eve... I figured this was a "local site" but since last year or so I am finding sawatdee site to be more for the retired farang clan of Pattaya only.

Thrillbill, I sincerely hope it isn't. I am not a Pattaya "goer", so to speak. I like to go places with a bit more culture and a little less ass in your face. However, that is my preference.

I have almost exhausted the museums in BKK but still a couple to go.

Anyhow, was looking online for other stuff to do that isn't necessarily gay per say but Dionne Warwick is in town and just have a scroll through other events coming up.

There seems to be only the usual bars etc having Christmas functions. Balcony and Telephone have fairly well attended gatherings. If you are with someone already (boy special) then think up something fun to do.

Last year my guy and I started Christmas Day at a service (8.30) at Christ Church (Church of England) on Sathorn, then went out to visit a good friend at the prison hospital. We were supposed to go to @Richards for Christmas dinner but I was feeling a bit crook in the gut so my lover went in my stead as we were supposed to meet some others there.

I am not what a you might call a staunch Christian but was bought up with Christian values and it was fun to take my guy who is Muslim/Buddhist to a Christian service. He thought it was pretty nifty. He seems to think that Christians are a little more flexible when it comes to God. I told him we would take anyone we could get these days. Lots of singing and fellowship.

I am always trying ti find things to do when I come to Bangkok to see my guy. I have found one source to be invaluable. I know it isn't the Christmas weekend thing you were thinking about but keep this site in mind for future reference. This guy has been everywhere and writes honestly and well.

Best value is the Christmas Dinner [25th] at The Balcony [Silom Soi 4]. The price is very cheap [I forget either 300 or 500 baht] but if you join before and become a member [for much the same amount of baht] receiving a lifetime discount on your evening bills, then the dinner is free if you take it between 4.00 and 6.00.

Roast Turkey [usually two of them] Ham off the bone, English minced pies with brandy custard are all the usual norms. The turkey is normally Ok, but it can be a bit dry and tough [cooked by the junior partner, an American but definitely not a chef!]. But for FREE, it is all wonderful!

That sounds like a good deal. I like just sitting with my guy people watching at Balcony anyway.

Since I will not be there for Christmas might tell my guy to pop in for dinner if he's in the mood. No ham though.

    Cheers
