Yes, I read that and the review in Atlantic that called it, "groundbreakingly ordinary." Yet, even the Atlantic noted that the various coming out moments were handled with grace and dignity. The fantasised scenes were, indeed, well done. But I disagree with your first statment. After years in corporate work and as a teacher years before that I can attest that "coming out" is far more than an apology to parents. In fact, that was the least of it.
