    "Coming out" is merely the excuse gay children feel obliged to make to their parents for not giving them grandchildren. As I think I said one of the best scenes in Yes, Simon for me was where he fantasised about his friends "coming out" to their parents as straight

    The fantasised scenes were, indeed, well done. But I disagree with your first statment. After years in corporate work and as a teacher years before that I can attest that "coming out" is far more than an apology to parents. In fact, that was the least of it.
