Yes, it's Sathorn Unique. I did not include it only because basic construction of the 49 storey tower had been completed when the owner went bust in 1997. It was to have been a luxury apartment complex to complement its nearby twin - the Lebua State Tower. The building is also called the Ghost Tower. A couple of years ago the body of a Swedish backpacker was found hanging on the 43rd floor. Bt. 200 to the guard will usually give you access and you can climb all the way to the roof if you are so inclined.

As often in Thailand, there are interesting twists to its story. Begun in 1990 its real estate owner was arrested in 1993 for plotting to murder the President of the Supreme Court. Although this Justice was never murdered, the case did not go before the courts till 2008. He was first found guilty and then acquitted! In the interim, the companies financing the building had gone bust and the owner - not surprisingly - could not find other backers.

You may recall that the building now housing the Millennium Hilton by the river also stayed empty for quite a few years. A story went around that it had been built on unstable foundations and was unsafe. Presumably there is no danger it will fall down any time soon
