The apps make a major part of their money via the ads. The incentive to pay is to get rid of the ads and no restrictions on the number of profiles you want to be able to see and access.

If the free versions annoy you too much, then pay for the app. That might be money well spent if the ads and restrictions are too annoying. You might want to pay for just one app and see if the result makes it worth the money. I agree with Moses that Hornet seems to be best for Pattaya. Hornet is my favorite app. Most of the others seem to me to be better suited for Bangkok.

If you want to pay for an app, Hornet is the one I would choose. As far as I can tell, that's the app most of the Pattaya boys choose. For the price of a couple drinks, you will be free of the annoyances and can see and contact as many profiles as you want.

There was a discount for Hornet a while ago which I considered a good deal; this is the only app I'm paying for.
Others (Blued, Grindr) are rather expensive, and I don't like two tiers of paid access.
A year ago I had a three-months dating spree in Thailand-Cambodia-Thailand, for which I paid for Blued.

The ads and restrictions can indeed be annoying, that's why I start looking at Hornet (paid subscription without ads) and if I can't find there what I'm looking for, move to the others.
