Any recommendations for Pattaya? My Agoda-booked 5* place didn't answer emails....I object to that and so when I book next time, I'll go elsewhere.

The Venue in Jomtien Complex. I used them late December, no problems at all.
5100 for one night, test and go,including the second test and transport from the airport. That was under the old rules which did not require a second night at the hotel.
You can contact Chris at the email address on their website and book direct. He will answer any questions you have.

If you decide to stay in BKK for your first night then I highly recommend the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G
Limo picked me up from airport at 08.20 and on arrival at the hotel I was tested in a dedicated suite in the hotel itself.
At 14.30 they called to say that my PCR test was negative and I was free to roam about, BF was also free to move in with me at that stage.
Very efficient communication in English after I had to change my arrival time twice.
On checkout I hadn't used my 500b credit so the receptionist insisted on escorting us to the ground floor restaurant and making sure that we were given free take away coffees, cookies and a milkshake.
All in all a great service for 5600.

Farang travelling companion stayed at the Citrus Grande in South Pattaya and was satisfied overall. He was released at 22.00 on NYE and was able to stroll to Sunee to catch up with some old friends in NB
I also note that Baan Souy are now offering T&G

you should be able to get the PCR tests to leave in USA for free. I talked to the testing center worried about timing. they told me just come in three days in a row. that way you're sure to get results that match your travel plan. of course if you are symptom free positive.... and i read somewhere you can test positive on PCR for more than a few days after the infection/symptoms clear up. but i need to validate that...
I was hoping for a trip report on columbia and mexico to help me decide....
I was advised not to test after recovery from delta for 30 days to avoid false positives. Apparently, sometimes PCR can show positive up to 90 days.
