Thread: Are you jealous of Smiles retiring?

Maybe Smiles' retirement in Pattaya will last as long as his retirement from this Forum? :))) I jest, of course, as I know that he plans to throw lots of parties for all readers with oodles of free drinks and food. I hereby apply for the post of first ballooner.

As one who retired at 54 I can recommend it heartily. Of course one can be tempted to the dark side and cut and paste excessively - am I in danger? At least I don't make 'cutting' remarks except when 'plastered'.

Will Smiles take back Sawatdee and relieve Elephantspike of the heavy duty of moderating and filing messages in the various bins invented so that they can disappear from being read. Hopefully he will fix things so that I can post my wonderful photos from the 10,895 - and rising - that I have in my computer.

An old Canadian gentleman on his way to a walking holiday in Thailand, arrives in BKK by plane.
At Thai customs he fumbles for his passport.
"You have been to Thailand before, Mister?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.
The old gent admitted that he had been to Thailand before.
"Then, you should know enough to have your passport ready for inspection," snapped the irate official.
The Canadian said, "The last time I came to Thailand I did not have to show my passport."
"Impossible old man!" the official replied. "You Canadians always have to show your passports on arrival in Thailand!"
The old Canadian gave the Thai man a long hard look. Then calmly stated: "I assure you, young man, that when I came ashore on Jomtiem Beach on D-Day in 1944, there were no bloody Thais anywhere on that beach." :clown:
