Yes, really. None of us need doppelgangers. One of each is enough.
There is nothing small or quaint about this place, it is relatively huge.

I'm not rejecting anything. I have no doubt that the establishment described by your friend and mfas exists.
It just seems that the word "casino" conjures up different images amongst us.
From what I regard as a "casino" the place described doesn't fit the bill. To me it's just a gambling den, aptly described by Smiles thus :
A difference in definitions, Lonelywombat, that's all.More likely, vaguely, secretive, dirty, sleasy buildings are taken over for short periods of time, then closed down quickly when they stop being able to bribe the Boys-in-Brown

For those who haven’t passed by see my top pic at #52 taken a few days ago.
A Casino it is not....
Anyway thank god (pun intentional) it’s not a Mosque with all that early morning wailing!

It seems so pedantic if locals use the word casino ,why get so upset about that name.
If locals see it as a casino and you disagree with the name. So what. It was their description.
We have so much shit here criticising spelling and grammar, do we need it
In Australia we have hotels with gaming rooms, usually only pokies. different people have different names and in other parts of the world they may use another words. But legal or not they are all about gambling.

Jesus Christ - and some of you guys say I'm argumentative?
Oxford English Dictionary:
casino
- noun
- A public room or building where gambling games are played.
- Origin
- Mid 18th century: from Italian, diminutive of casa ‘house’, from Latin casa ‘cottage’
.
Seems like Lonely is perfectly correct to refer to it as such - it doesn't require crystal chandeliers and roulette wheels to be a Casino - who knew?

Where's the argument?
When I read that a casino was being planned in Pattaya I immediately thought of something along the lines of a Las Vegas casino.
It turns out that it is, in fact, something a lot more modest, akin to the old gambling dens in Hong Kong.
No big deal. The "casino" just isn't what I first thought it would be.
