Things got out of control at Handforth Parish Council (in Cheshire, England) during a Zoom meeting. Normally, few people attend parish council meetings, but due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 regulations such meetings are currently held on Zoom.

The video record of the meeting has gone viral and two versions, one short (from The Guardian), one long, are copied below along with a report from the UK online newspaper, Independent:

Handforth parish council has become an unlikely internet sensation after the town’s Zoom meeting descended into a frenzied shouting match.

The online session began with an unseen councillor mumbling “f*** off” under their breath. There were odd references to Britney Spears and “laughing hyenas”. There were accusations of power grabs and unexplained interruptions by friends. It had it all.
