I'm sure this feigned ignorance will just turn out to be another of Homintern's little jokes. A reference to a time when he himself was just a 16 year old boy could surely no longer be referred to as 'popular culture'. American or otherwise.

I was far to busy visiting the local public lavatories from age 13 onwards to bother with that sort of thing. The only popular culture I recall getting was candida. These habits run in families, of course - poor Aunty had a number of episodes as a 17-year-old where the local policeman ended up bringing him home, still in his Auckland Grammar uniform
