    Take a gander at the Iranian movie "Offside". Its about some girls (probably including at least one lesbian) that try to sneak into the World Cup soccer match between Iran and Bahrain. The only problem is in Tehran women can't watch sport matches with men. The poor gals are caught and penned right outside the staduim where they can hear the shouts and cheers but can't go in. Their young male guards cant really give them a reason why but orders is orders.

    I think the movie is banned in Iran.

    Job related I need to fly to Iran occasionally and can use sat-operated internet access. Input via sat, output is slow coded via bitorrent on isdn. Therefore there is no local traffic control possible which is a great advantage.

    Actually, as in most countries, people living in urban areas are more tolerant and flexible. This is the same in Iran. Living for a gay in remote rural areas is very difficult. Remote areas are usually very poor. The unemployment rate overall is about 40 percent about even higher outside cities. There are only the social support networks provided by religious communities. And more than 50 percent of population is below 25 years of age but full of hormons.

    Most cities do have several popular meeting joints for gay men, usually are university grounds fine. And there are public parks. Furthermore are bridges popular and hotels close by do usually not object if somebody is renting a room short time.

    I never have had any problems meeting gay people at any age. And it is even less difficult for locals if they dare to come out.

    Most websites, like gayromeo.com, gayroyal.com, gay.com etc are blocked in Iran as it is google now. English operated web sites aren't truly popular since most Iranian are either unable or to laze to communicate in written English.

    Most Iranians have access to European TV via Sat. Therefore they get all they want to know, manly sports, music and porn advertisements. Popular are hacked smart-cards which can be used to view full hard core porn movies, especially from Italy. Sat-TV is illegal but I haven’t found a single house yet without a dish somewhere.

    No. There is much to much to do just on an organisational level, crossing borders getting around, to think homosexual, though i would like to go back, would need to get lost for a bit. Did seem a bit like I was under arrest all the time, but never unpleasant just tiring ( ;

    It makes me uneasy though hearing the growing propaganda being spread in Ga ga land about the place. Fcuk America, sooner the better for everyone. They still have the death penalty in Ga ga, its purely academic who and for what a person is singled out to be put to death, it remains barbaric. I wonder when the fuck-heads will launch a full scale war on Burma...freedom fighters? Bwaaha ha ha whatever.

    I lived in Tehran towards the end of The Shah's reign. As in most Muslim countries the boys [late teens, early 20's] unable to have open sexual relations unless married were as hot as hell [sorry, only heathens go to hell]. The straight saunas/steam rooms [inside their fitness centres] at the 5 star hotels [particularly The Hilton] were non-stop action places and that often included the local pool boys, who would bring you a fresh towel and hang around hoping! As for the saunas in the 2-3 star local hotels [90% local men and boys] it was frenetic.

    Many of their leading sportsmen were gay and normally had a training group of young men who followed them everywhere. One such famous local [from a unique Iranian wrestling format] would bring them with him to one of the saunas and then have 6-8 of them massage his considerable bulk, in the sauna itself. But back then Tehran was an exotic mix of Armenians, Assyrians, Jews and those beautiful pure Persians with their olive skin, pitch black hair and sometimes even blue eyes like Soraya, the Shah's first wife.

    Very hot and horny is how I remember the boys of Tehran. Maybe not too many of them turned out gay, but uncomplicated sex was the norm whilst growing up.

    Thank you so much for that post. I've always believed Iran could be one of the great nations on the face of the planet if they could just get their heads out of their Fundamentalist asses.

    And I also believe America could once again be the shining beacon of freedom if it could get ITS head out of its Fundamentalist ass.

    Hope springs eternal..... :flower:
