    Dubai

I just spent a few days wandering around Dubai. I was not looking for any action as there is no sign whatsoever of anything gay. All the gay sites are, of course, banned - even proxies are banned.
Having said that, Dubai is full of CUTE, HANDSOME young guys, many of them driving Lamborghinis and Ferraris! If you want eye candy, then Dubai is the place to be.
And I'm sure the gay guys have their own secret scene there to enjoy. The guy at the airline check-in desk was definitely gay and I was tempted to ask him a few pertinent questions, but decided against it.

The shopping is awesome, the architecture bold - ranging from the "Good Lord! to the "Good grief!" - and the food choice is endless. The locals tend not to work; they just wander around the shopping centres popping in and out of Gucci and Louis Vuitton, followed by bevvies of burka'ed beauties (I'm guessing here!) whose long robes act as floor sweepers. All the workers in the tourist industry and shops are from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, etc. Not a local in sight! And they are all very polite and friendly.

All in all, a great destination - well, for a few days, at least. But only looking!

"The fruits of peace and tranquility... are the greatest goods... while those of its opposite, strife, are unbearable evils. Hence we ought to wish for peace, to seek it if we do not already have it, to conserve it once it is attained, and to repel with all our strength the strife which is opposed to it. To this end individual[s]... and in even greater degree groups and communities are obliged to help one another... from the bond or law of human society." [Marsilio dei Mainardini (c.1275-1342), Defensor Pacis]
