... that, like his fellow cuntryman Aunty he thinks that Nw Zlnd is typical of the West (rather than the arse-end of the world), and that if you go looking for invidious but superficial comparisons then, gosh, you'll find them. The moment I tell people that I prefer big cities to any other place of living I know the sneering response will be "Oh, you like pollution, then?". There are upsides and downsides of everywhere, but taking them together, I prefer big cities. For many Westerners, on balance the downsides of living in Thailand (as opposed to visiting Thailand) have started to outweigh the upsides (the same of course is true for Nw Zlnd); they haven't (yet) for me
