Four foreign paedophile suspects held in Pattaya

Thai police arrested four suspected paedophiles from Britain, Finland and the United States over the weekend at the notorious beach resort, initially charging them with abduction of minors.

Police said on Monday they arrested the four men on Sunday, after complaints from the Child Protection Centre of Pattaya.

They identified three of the men as British nationals Maurice John Praill and Stephen James Ellison, and American Glenn Richard Allen. They were detained at their rented flats in Pattaya, which has become notorious in the past decade for its nightlife and sex industry.

A fourth suspect from Finland was also held on Sunday, but his name was not immediately available form the Crimes Against Children and Women Suppression Division, which carried out the arrests.

Child pornography and video equipment for making more porn were reportedly found in the four men's separate apartments.

"We made these arrests by coordinating with the embassies of the UK, US and Finland, which have provided records on child abusers from their countries," said Pol Maj-Gen Kamronwit Tupkrajang, commander of the special police division.

All four suspects were initially charged with abduction of minors but may face further charges as the investigation into their activities in Pattaya unfolds, said Pol Maj-Gen Kamronwit.

For God's sakes, children have been raped. What the hell difference does it make if it was a little boy or a little girl he forced they put their penises into???

I am frankly not interested in the paedophiles who appear to still be at work in Pattaya. I read this forum for news about gay Thailand, not paedophile activity.

On my first couple of visits to Thailand nine years ago the paedophile element were visible on the gay beach at Jomtien, and we made real efforts to drive them away. We need to be clear that there is NO LINK between gay people and paedophiles.

I agree. I think it's a shame that because we are discussing this on a gay-oriented board, we feel like we have to make that disclaimer i.e. gay does not equal paedophile. If they have the exact same discussion on, Thaivisa, say (and i'm sure that they probably are), they don't feel the need to make such a distinction (that straight does not equal paedophile).

You've obviously missed the agenda of the Right. Having lost (everywhere except America) the battle to make gay people "respectable", the Right has adopted the tactic of gay = paedophile as an attempt to re-open the debate and let their view prevail

Mind you, we don't help our own cause by consistently encouraging 30 and 40 year-olds refer to themselves as "boys" (boygeenyus anyone?) and making porn that rarely shows guys with much body hair. I simply don't believe that the natural state of most Caucasian porn stars is to have no hair between the scrotum and the anus. No wonder gays can be characterised as "boy" lovers

Two Britons, an American and a Finnish man were arrested in Thailand's eastern resort town of Pattaya on Monday and charged with sexually abusing under-aged girls, police said.

Glenn Richard Allen from the United States, a Finnish man identified only by his first name Hero, and two Britons -- Maurice John Praill and Stephen James Ellison -- were charged with molesting children aged under 15, police said.
