A delicious scandal unfolds in Sydney between the Spanish Consul General and his male lover :

THE Spanish Consul-General has become embroiled in a court case involving drug possession, assault and malicious damage following a lover's tiff with his partner at his sprawling Eastern Suburbs estate.

Enrique Sarda Valls, NSW's most-senior Spanish diplomat, was assaulted by his boyfriend, Michael Kopietz, at his Vaucluse residence last week.

Australian Protective Service officers raced to the Wentworth Ave property after a panic button was pressed about 8pm last Friday.

Local police were also called to the mansion, where they found broken furniture and two smashed pot plants, the property of Mr Valls, 54.

Kopietz, 34, who was sharing the consulate quarters with the diplomat, was arrested and charged with assault and malicious damage.

Police also allegedly found him in possession of drugs including heroin, LSD, crystal methylamphetamine and "84 tablets of unknown origin".

Kopietz appeared in Waverley Local Court on Thursday, where he entered pleas of guilty to the assault and malicious damage charges.

He pleaded not guilty to the drug possession charges.

Police also took out an interim apprehended violence order against Kopietz on behalf of Mr Valls, who allegedly told officers he was so fearful of his partner "he has offered to pay for (him) to fly from Australia".

But, the consul-general is apparently no longer in fear, after penning a letter to the court insisting he did not want to proceed with the AVO.
