    Sandals

A while ago there was quite an animated discussion here about which brand offered the most comfortable sandals.

On the basis of one particularly enthusiastic recommendation, I bought a pair of Rockports and have just come back from using them to hike around the mountains of Crete for a week.

I must confirm that they are the most comfortable and secure-feeling pair that I have ever had.

Thanks to the recommender (I forget who it was!)

The sandals will certainly be in use on the gentler slopes of Dongtang beach next month!

I have never seen Rockports in Thailand, has anyone?

Also, sizes often stop at US size 9. I am a 10.5/ 11 and apparently quite a freek by Thai standards.

    That was moi ( http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/fo ... ht=sandals ) and you're welcome. Rockports rock!
I liked them for exactly the same reason ... one can hike forever in them in complete comfort.

How much is an 'off' in Crete?

    Cheers ...
Just another reason why I love living in Thailand

You know what they say about big feet dear. Is it true?
Don't try to hold in farts - they travel up your spine and into your brain and that is where shitty ideas come from.

    I can confirm that !!

it's absolutely true...people with big feet always have big noses and long legs.

These Rockports are a nightmare to get used to wearing..almost crippling.

There were no "offs" to be had in Crete as far as I could tell. There used to be a "bar with boys" in Rethymno but that seems to have closed. Aghia Nicholaos has rainbow flags (and effete customers!) in one of the bars of the Hotel du Lac but I did not explore...

    PS I am a (UK) size 11!
