    Agate Jomtien now expensive

Booked a ticket for March. One year after my last trip. What has happened to the Agate in Jomtien? It is now 100 EUR a night according to hotels.com. Used to be much cheaper. New owners ?

Never ever use an agency to book rooms at The Agate. I'll be there in March paying 1500bht a night. Book direct with the hotel; suraksa.p@theagatepattaya.com.

If you've already paid, you can cancel...at least you can on Agoda.

The buffet breakfast is now available at 200bht .

I thought that sites like Booking and Agoda did price matching. I would screenshot the price on their website and have them price match.

Usually Booking shows full price and Agoda shows price without VAT

On this website I'm seeing 5200 bt for 4 nights at Agate in mid March.

Keep hunting if you see more than 100 euros a night. Does it still have 2 pools? I would stay there again but prefer Zing Resort up the street.

Yes, Agate has two pools. The smaller one is barely used....except by P. and myself. It is a joy to have it to ourselves. This was the case, even pre-Covid.

Zing is popular and a little cheaper but I find the atmosphere, particularly in its public areas, not to mention an exceptional reception staff, worth the extra 200bht or so a night.

It now has its breakfast buffet back, which you can take outside by the waterfall, which is more varied than that offered by Zing. The JC is well-served by hotels so you have plenty of choice.

The Agate was charging closer to 1,200 THB/night a while back when Jai and I roosted there for a weekend. They must be increasing the room rates due to high season.

In any event I join Oliver in recommending Agate. Friendly and attentive staff...love the small pool with the waterfall...clean rooms, etc....can't beat the location.

I used Agoda (as I always do) for my reservation.

Such are the laws in The Netherlands, for Booking.

But the point of my price matching comment was that if the hotel offers a cheaper price online, Booking.com will match it.

To clarify, my advice is to contact the hotel by email at the given address; the price on Agate's on-line booking form may be significantly different.
