I have used this board in the past and have gotten lots of tips and suggestions, so I want to pay it forward and share my experience in Jakarta Indonesia last week. I spent a week there and did all the local stuff, ate the foods, went to the markets, and had a blast with the local boys on the apps. I used Blued, Grindr, and Scruff. I was honestly surprised how many guys I met on the app considering it's a Muslim country. I had so many hits on the apps that I had trouble keeping up with the guys and ended up having quite a few over during my stay: in the morning, afternoon, and evening. I like asian guys, so i was in prime territory. I am from the USA, and those Jakarta hotties seemed to love western men, so I had absolutely no problem hooking up as much as I wanted. The guys from Jakarta are mostly short, thin, and very willing to do anything in bed. Being a top, well I was in heaven! Many of the local wifi places (airport, malls, etc) blocked Grindr, but I was able to use it effectively with my cell carrier and in my hotel. I had a feeling this would be the issue because of the anti-gay sentiments in Jakarta. Like i mentioned, wifi in my hotel was great and I used it to meet some of the hottest guys I have had in a long time. Just wanted to share my experience with people who might be thinking of visiting Jakarta for the culture and the action.

Did you have any problem with the hotel? From what I remember from my trip to Indonesia 6 years (Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali) the guys would come straight to my room, but they had talked with the check-in as some of them new my actual legal name and not just my nickname that I introduced myself to them on Grindr.

Would you say you prefer more Phon Phen or Jakarta when it comes to guys and which ones do you find sexier?

In Jakarta I met the guys in the lobby and went up to my room. The guys there are small, slim, and sexy. They are very into western men. I got more messages and more action in Jakarta than anywhere else. It was non stop fun with lots of sexy men. I got about 30-40 messages per day. no flakes. just lots of horny young men between 21 and 35.

Which hotel and area of the city did you stay in? From your account there didn't seem to be any problem bringing guys back to the room. Using a VPN might be the way to go for the apps. Thanks!

Indo has never ever really been much anti-gay. It was very well known those sultans etc had harems of young guys around them. The rather spoken about former-former president was also in the secret known to go off with guys. Yogya, the once quite famous city in mid-Java (near that Borobudur-compared to TH a very plain thing) and even more in Malang-a leafy cooler upin the hills city in the east-no worry to find guys, they would find you even sooner. Bandung was once famous for its many m2m brothels (gone mostly, underage cannot do anymore and is strictly patrolled now). The former very busy bekpek-tourists etc seem to have disappeared all.
Bali/close by that infamous Kuta (screaming OZzie girls) had a very lively gay area. But no idea what has survived from that.
