An interesting talking point. It’s often said that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Weren’t the Chechens currently fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine originally designated as terrorists?

No. They weren't. There are 2 main streams in clans in Chechnya. Current ruling clan was always on Russian side, that why father of current leader and formerly leader has been killed.

And second one stream that ran from Russia after Chechen war, is living in Austria, UK, Germany and so on - they are in opposition. When you hear what one of Chechens has been killed in Berlin - you may be sure it is echo of war btw clans.
